CLIENT CHECK IN

I always get asked…

What does a client’s weekly fitness check-in look like?

Well, let’s break it down.

Let’s start by first answering,  what does a client's success story look like?

The first determining factor, for me, is that you are able to create a routine that is attainable and you are able to progressively improve over time.

Most importantly, staying CONSISTENT is my first win for you.

Now, to do that we will usually follow specific protocol and modalities that fit your workout program for your determining goal. It can be weight loss, moving better, gaining muscle, gaining strength, or living a healthier lifestyle.

“So, all I have to do is follow a program written for me and  I am good to go?!”

Hmm not quite so…

You see, your current lifestyle is built on past experienced learned behaviors, which may have influenced in developing a certain routine and habit. Breaking those habits can be challenging.

Embarking on a very challenging and strict routine may be attainable for the first few weeks, but it can also be hard to sustain it for life.

Great, but what does it have to do with a client check-in?!

Well, when it comes to the check-in,  here are a few things that I personally like to address as we move forward together with your fitness journey:

Movement

If you are new to fitness and/or your experience is very limited,  then I like to address movement patterns as we learn to work out.

There is so much that goes into being able to hinge properly, squat,or do a burpee. Sometimes we might have limitations in our hip, shoulders, and spine. So in a check-in session, we might go through a process of learning how to cue and address your pattern so that you can start to develop an awareness and understanding of how you move.

With each session, you will start to own and connect with your body. You will learn to move well and be able to exercise with the sole purpose of moving better.

Nutritional Guide

A check-in session can also be focused mainly in addressing your nutritional journey. As you start to develop a routine, you will notice that your nutrition will play a role in helping you reach your goal.

So depending on your objective and how you are progressing forward, we will address your nutritional guide.

Now, this can be broken down into stages and it all depends on when you are. But the main focus is to develop good eating habits that will help you stick to your nutritional routine.

Remember, a diet is different from a lifestyle.

A diet, you can keep for 4 to 6 weeks but you will not be able to sustain it for life. As such, developing good habits is key.

So, in a client check-in session, we can address the struggles concerning your nutritional diet and align our compass to tackle our goal.

Fitness Progression

A client check-in session will also address the progress in your program. What are the struggles and pitfalls you might be facing with your program?

Perhaps, you might be experiencing more discomfort than usual? Or you might be noticing that the workout is challenging and you are having a hard time staying focused.

Your concerns and challenges will be addressed.

As your coach, I will address the limitations and meet you where you are at - sometimes what might seem right on paper, may not be something that you are ready for yet. In the check-in session, we can address the changes needed to be made to help you get back on track and move forward.

Lifestyle changes

We don’t all have the luxury of getting all out necessary sleeping hours, eating during proper hours of the day ( sometimes we even forget to eat), and/or be stress-free 100%

We live a life where our responsibilities and priorities change regularly.

So making the necessary lifestyle changes is key to make sure you are able to adhere to your program and achieve the goals you set to complete.

As such, discussing your lifestyle is key in the weekly check-in session. It gives us a space to explore and implement different suggestions.

WORKOUT

Client check-in can also be a workout session; it all depends on where you are in your progress.

There are days where I might have planned out to tackle my clients' nutrition, but because throughout the week I may notice that my client is having a hard time sticking to a workout, we will switch gears and focus on guiding my client through a workout.

Showing up and supporting my client is key. Having your coach beside you through a workout can be the necessary support you need to tip the momentum and keep on moving forward.

Accountability

Ultimately your weekly check-in sessions are a space for us to truly address all your concerns and build the necessary plan to help you progress forward in your journey.

I am your accountability and buffer to move forward.

Conclusion

A client check-in session plus a big role in allowing me, your coach, to plan out the best course of action to tackle the goals we set to complete.

It’s the perfect opportunity to be able to see how that week is going and address any concerns, pitfalls, or changes needed to help you stay on track and be consistent.

Remember, this is a TEAM effort.
